Cortez, CO : U.S. 160 rollover crash injures two east of Mancos on Wednesday, March 29th 2017

A rollover a few miles east of the La Plata-Montezuma county line on U.S. Highway 160 sent two people to Mercy Medical Center in Durango on Tuesday afternoon, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said Wednesday morning.About 3:30 p.m., a 2008 Dodge hatchback rolled over near mile marker 65 on U.S. 160 about 3 miles east of Mancos Hill, according to Lewis. The driver of the car, an 80-year-old man from Cortez, and a passenger were transported to Mercy, Lewis said. He did not provide details of their identification or injuries.

Though a cause of the crash had not been determined, roads were slick at the time of the crash, Lewis said. No drugs or alcohol was involved in the crash.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash, and a tow truck was called fairly quickly, Lewis said. Crews cleared the scene by about 5:30 p.m., he said.

Two other crashes occurred nearby shortly after that incident, Lewis said Thursday. A Colorado Department of Transportation truck crashed into a guardrail about 3:42 p.m. at mile marker 67. About 4 p.m., a Ford Focus went off the highway and into a ditch at mile marker 64. There were no injuries in either of those incidents, Lewis said.
