Goochland, VA : Two people dead, two injured in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in near Oilville on Sunday, March 1, 2015

Two sisters from Goochland, heading home from a baby shower, were killed Sunday when police say a drunk driver slammed into their car.

Virginia State Police on Monday identified the two women killed in the Interstate 64 crash and charged a man with driving under the influence.

The two women were headed west near mile marker 170 around 8:07 p.m. when a speeding car hit theirs from behind, according to troopers. The impact sent their car off the road and into a tree. Sheila and Yolanda McCowan, both from Rockville, were wearing seat belts but were killed. Sheila's son, Justin was also in the car and suffered minor injuries. The other car struck a third car, then a guardrail. The driver of the third car was not injured.

A day after learning her mom is dead, Kasey McCowan is still struggling with the news.

"I can't believe it," Kasey said. "I just wish it weren't true."

Kasey and her sister Kiana say their mother was a special woman. She even worked three-jobs to provide for her family.

"We never saw her down. We always saw her happy and she always made us happy. She kept us motivated," says Kiana McCowan.

Yolanda and her sister, Shelia were killed Sunday night on Interstate-64.

The girls say their aunt Shelia was great to be around, "She was the best," Kasey said. "She was so funny! Oh my gosh, I miss her!"

The women were coming back from a family baby shower when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver.

Even though they were wearing their seatbelts, the sisters didn't survive, but Shelia's son did. The girls said Justin McCowan, 16, is now recovering from a broken collar bone.

But the memories of the last moments before the crash are haunting the family.

"He said, 'When I opened my eyes, my mom was laying in my lap and I looked back at your mom and her eyes just rolled back in her head," said Kiana choking up with emotion of the memories Justin shared.

While the physical injuries will heal, the McCowan children are now trying figure out how to live a life without a mother.

"You should never forget to tell people how you feel or tell them you love them every day, because tomorrow's not promised," Kiana said.

And to Andrew Chavis, the man police say is responsible, Kiana McCowan has this to say: "I just want him to know that he chose to do something very bad. He took somebody -- two people, very precious -- from me."

Moving forward, the family is trying to focus on the happier times.

And for Yolanda's daughter, Kasey that means a vow to her dead mother: "I'm going to do it for her. I'm going to do everything for her," she said.

This is just the latest tragedy for the McCowans, the family is burying a Great Aunt on Wednesday.

Chavis was taken to VCU Medical Center. As of Monday night, he was in good condition.
