Saint Augustine, FL : A Crescent City bicyclist was killed on U.S. Highway 17 in Putnam County on Monday, 25th June 2018

A Crescent City bicyclist was killed Monday night on U.S. Highway 17 in Putnam County north of Paradise Shores Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release.

James Sneed, 52, violated the right of way of a car driven by Christopher Simmons of Pomona Park while crossing U.S. 17, according to FHP.

Sneed was hit by Simmons’ Buick Riviera and landed in a grassy area east of the roadway, the release says.

Simmons stopped briefly on the road’s shoulder, but the left the scene, FHP says.
