Altamonte Springs, FL : Apopka man dead in motorcycle crash on State Road 436 in Seminole County on Saturday, December 26, 2015

A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into one car, then another around 6:30 p.m. near Altamonte Springs Saturday, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Apopka man, was not identified.

The man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle west on State Road 436 Trooper Wanda Diaz said.

Driving "at a high rate of speed," the man changed from the center to the right lane, then back to the center lane, to pass another driver, Diaz said.

Two cars that had been stopped at a red light at Lake Brantley Road had just started moving again when the light turned green, Diaz said. The motorcyclist ran into the back of a Chrysler 300, which sent the motorcycle through the air and into the back of a Toyota 4Runner, Diaz said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Florida Hospital Altamonte, where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Diaz said.

The Chrysler was carrying six people, ages 11 to 82, Diaz said. Three reported minor injuries.

The three people in the Toyota, a 53-year-old man and two girls, 13 and 16, were not injured, Diaz said.

State Road 436 was closed to traffic Saturday as troopers investigated what caused the crash.
