A 71-year-old Clinton woman died Tuesday morning when her car ran off a Clinton road, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reports. Marianna G. Pearson was by herself in the 2000 Mazda 626 when it crashed about 9:03 a.m., according to Trooper Joseph Lindsay's report. According to Lindsay, the four-door Mazda was heading south on Lake City Highway while on a right-hand curve. It went off the left side of the road near Pumphouse Road and struck an embankment on the car's passenger side. Pearson was wearing a seat belt. In this case, however, the crash was so severe it would not have saved Pearson, according to Lindsay. Drug and alcohol tests have been ordered. source : Clinton woman, 71, dies in crash
