JANESVILLE, WI : Driver's medical condition contributed to van crashing into Janesville house on Friday, November 18th, 2016
The man who drove a van into the side of a house on Janesville's west side Friday was suffering from a medical condition, according to accident reports.
The reports, released Monday, do not specify the condition that affected Clarence Scott Jr., 45, 214 S. Pearl St. upper, Janesville.
Scott's condition was described in one report as “reduced alertness.”
The van, owned by New Life Ministries, 1400 Harvey St., Beloit, went over the curb near the corner of Rockport Road and Jackson Street and hit the side of 635 S. Jackson St. at 9:35 a.m. Friday, according to a report.
Scott was treated and released at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville.
Scott and the van were involved in another accident near Beloit Avenue and State Street, Janesville, shortly before the van hit the house.
The van and a car driven by Jamie L. Collier, 34, of 1504 Killdeer Lane, Janesville, were headed north on Beloit Avenue when the van hit the rear of the car, causing the car to spin around and come to a stop facing east on State Street, according to the report.
Scott later told an officer he did not remember colliding with another vehicle, the report states. The report describes Scott's condition in this accident as “physically disabled.”
Scott was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license.
Collier was cited for driving with a suspended license and without insurance.
Police on Friday said Scott and the van were involved in a third accident. That report was not available Monday.
