Oregon State Police are investigating a head-on crash that seriously injured two men Saturday near Pine Grove.
Officials say that around 7 a.m., Servando Zanora Avendano, 26, was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Highway 35 when he collided head-on with Francisco Castro Gusman, 21. After the impact, Avendano's pickup came to rest on its side, and Gusman's car was resting in the middle of the highway.
Avendano was taken by helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries.
Gusman was also seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University.
Preliminary investigations indicate alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. OSP troopers are continuing the investigation.
