Toledo, OH : A Toledo woman died after a two-vehicle crash on I-475 on Monday, January, 15th 2018

A Toledo woman died after a two-vehicle crash on I-475 early Monday in Sylvania Township, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The driver of one vehicle, Precious Douglas, 24, of Toledo, was transported by Lucas County EMS to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead after arrival, troopers from the patrol’s Toledo post said.

The driver of the second car, Lisa Garza, 37, and her passengers, Reynaldo Hernandez, 26, and Maxine Hernandez, 3, all of Toledo, were all transported by Sylvania Township EMS to ProMedica Flower Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the patrol.

Ms. Douglas was traveling on I-475 as it curves from westbound to southbound at the U.S. 23 junction in Sylvania Township when her vehicle struck Ms. Garza’s vehicle, which was disabled because of a prior crash, troopers said. The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m.

The freeway was closed for more than an hour.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, and safety belt use is unknown, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
