Ms. Douglas was traveling on I-475 as it curves from westbound to southbound at the U.S. 23 junction in Sylvania Township when her vehicle struck Ms. Garza’s vehicle, which was disabled because of a prior crash, troopers said. The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m.
The freeway was closed for more than an hour.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, and safety belt use is unknown, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
