Indiana, PA : Homer City man dies in a single-car crash in Indiana County early Thursday, December 24, 2015
Speed and alcohol were believed to be factors in a single-car crash that killed one person early Thursday in rural Indiana County.
Coroner Jerry L. Overman Jr. said Toby Samuel McCauley, 22, of Homer City, died in the 2:51 a.m. crash on Route 22 when his car struck a Jersey barrier in Armagh.
Overman said McCauley was westbound when he struck the barrier, crossed both westbound lanes, left the highway, struck a guide rail and then a large road sign before coming to rest at the bottom of the road.
An unidentified female passenger was treated at the scene and then taken to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown for treatment. Police did not provide information on the extent of her injuries.
A state police investigation is continuing.
