2 killed, 1 injured in crash that involved a person driving the wrong way
Two people were killed and one person was injured in a crash that involved a person driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 45 just south of Corinth.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Casey Mayo tells The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal two cars collided about one mile south of Corinth around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.Mayo says 55-year-old Peggy Wages of Baldwyn and 48-year-old Jeffery Bonds of Iuka were killed in the crash.
A 49-year-old man in Wages' car was airlifted from the scene to a Tupelo hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Mayo says Wages was driving southbound in the left lane of Highway 45 and Bonds was traveling in the wrong direction.He says the crash is under investigation to determine if alcohol did contribute to the accident.
