Emporia,KS : One injured in car/semi accident Saturday evening on July, Saturday 15th 2017

Just before 8 p.m. Saturday, Emporia Police, Lyon County Sheriffs, the Kansas Highway Patrol and Emporia/Lyon County Fire and Rescue all responded to the scene of an injury accident reported on Interstate 35, east of the Industrial Street interchange.

A car was reported to be merging onto the interstate from the northbound ramp when it struck the back of a semi truck. The female driver of the car was transported from the scene with unknown injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.

The names of the individuals involved in the accident have not been released.

While officials worked to clear the scene, northbound traffic on the interstate was closed for around 45 minutes.

Further details are pending an investigation by the police department.
