Two people suffered possible injuries after a woman failed to yield at an intersection and was struck by an oncoming vehicle on U.S. 264 Alternate near Farmville on Dec. 11, according to a weekly review of crashes investigated in Pitt County by the State Highway Patrol.
Temika Nicole Patrick of Greenville was traveling south on Moye-Turnage Road at 5:39 p.m. when she approached a stop sign at an intersection, failed to yield and was struck by another vehicle traveling east on U.S. 264 Alternate, driven by Megan Anna Griffin of Ayden.
The collision caused both vehicles to travel more than 40 feet from the original point of impact before coming to a rest.
Patrick was estimated to have been traveling at 10 mph at the time of impact. Griffin was estimated to have been traveling 55 mph. The speed limit for that section of road is 55 mph.
Both women were treated for possible injuries by Pitt County EMS and neither was transported to the hospital.
Both vehicles, a 2017 Nissan driven by Patrick and a 2014 Toyota driven by Griffin, incurred an estimated $10,000 worth of damages. Neither were drivable following the collision.
Patrick was charged with unsafe movement.
The wreck is among 13 the State Highway Patrol investigated recently in Pitt County, according to reports available between Dec. 11 and Monday. Wrecks involving deer and other animals are not included.
