Boston, MA : Driver and a child injured after the bus hit a utility pole head on in Brookline on Monday morning, December 21, 2015

A school bus driver and a child onboard were taken to the hospital with minor injuries Monday morning after the bus hit a utility pole head on in Brookline, according to Brookline police.

Police received a call that the Boston Public Schools bus had crashed on Chestnut Hill Avenue just after 8 a.m.

The student was brought to Boston Children’s Hospital, and the driver was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to police.

The bus, which was carrying five children believed to be under the age of 8, was on its way to the Edison K8 School in Brighton, according to The Boston Globe . All of the children on board were Edison students who had been picked up from Dorchester, the Globe reported.

A second bus picked up the other students on board, according to police, and one parent had arrived on scene to take their child.

Police are investigating the crash and have requested a copy of the bus’s camera system.
