Frankfort, KY : Two juveniles and a young adult are dead as a result of a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, July 1, 2017
Two juveniles and a young adult are dead as a result of a single-vehicle accident Saturday night on the Bluegrass Parkway.
Trooper Jeff Gregory of Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown said the two who died at the scene were 22-year-old Daniel Guerrero Jr. of Upton in Hardin County, and a 16-year-old girl, whom Nelson County Coroner Field Houghlin has identified as Rylee Marie Razon, 16, of Elizabethtown.
The third victim, Hugo R. Guerrero, 17 was driving the car, a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria. He was first taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office at 12:46 a.m. Sunday. He was Daniel Guerrero’s brother.
An earlier report from KSP had listed Daniel Guerrero listed as the driver, but police later corrected that information.
According to Houghlin, Daniel Guerrero had been in the front passenger’s seat, but ended up slumped over onto the driver’s side.
It isn’t yet known why the accident happened, Gregory said. The vehicle spun out of control near the 18 mile marker and struck a rock wall.
According to Nelson County E-911 Dispatch, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Bardstown Police Department, Nelson County EMS, Air Methods, Bardstown Fire Department, Nelson County Fire and Rescue and the Nelson County Coroner’s Office were notified and responded to the accident.
The accident occurred in the westbound lanes and the median, and those lanes were closed until 3:54 Sunday morning while KSP reconstructed the accident scene. Trooper Scott Rafferty continued working on the reconstruction Sunday afternoon.
Nelson County Deputy Coroner Papenfuss, who worked the accident, Houghlin and Gregory all said that a report from another news organization that a fourth person was involved and either killed or seriously injured was inaccurate.
