A two-vehicle crash near Airport Road and Colo. 66 on Wednesday afternoon in Longmont killed an 86-year-old woman.

Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis said that the crash was reported at about 3 p.m. and involved a 2001 Chrysler hatchback and a 1998 Lexus sedan, but further details surround the circumstances of the crash weren't available on Wednesday evening.

The 86-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Longmont United Hospital following the crash, and a 33-year-old woman was taken to a medical center by a private party.

The highway was closed for about three hours and reopened shortly before 7 p.m., Lewis said.

Wednesday's incident marks the third traffic fatality in Boulder County in the past month. Clayton Moon, 19, died at Boulder Community Health's Foothills Hospital on Monday following a crash near the intersection of Colo. 52 and Monarch Park Place.

On March 4, 74-year-old Salvatore Crisanti died at Longmont United Hospital following a single-vehicle rollover crash near County Line Road and Deerwood Drive.
