LASALLE, IL : ISP responds to fatal crash on Tuesday, September 5, 2017
Illinois State Police District 17 were called to the scene of a fatal crash that occurred on Route 6 near North 29th Road, near Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Club, Tuesday, Sept. 5.
According to the report, Richard C. Manley, 81, of LaSalle was traveling east on Route 6 and allegedly was in the process of attempting to pass another vehicle traveling eastbound. Manley’s vehicle struck another vehicle driven by Dana K. Heywood, 61, of Ottawa who was traveling westbound on Route 6.Heywood received fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Manley received serious, life-threatening injuries from the crash, police stated. Manley was charged with improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
The accident occurred around 3:26 p.m. Route 6 was closed until about 7 p.m. while the crash was investigated. Illinois State Police troopers were assisted on scene by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, State of Illinois Conservation Police, Illinois Department of Transportation, Utica Fire Department, LaSalle Fire Department, LaSalle Police Department and the Office of the LaSalle County Coroner.
