Motorcyclist dead after crash on New York Avenue

A 43-year-old man is dead after a crash on West New York Avenue, Oct. 9.Leo Ashline, 73, of DeLand, was driving his 2011 Chevy pickup truck southbound on Grand Avenue.The other driver, whose name has not been released, was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, and traveling westbound on New York Avenue.Ashline stopped at a stop sign on Grand Avenue and New York Avenue, and then attempted to cross New York Avenue.Police said Ashline pulled into the direct path of the motorcyclist.The front of the motorcycle struck the left side of Ashline's vehicle.Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
