Four people were seriously injured Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at North 33rd Street and Ames Avenue.
All four people were taken to Creighton University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Police said the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. when a 1994 Chevrolet K1500 Blazer that was southbound on 33rd Street from Meredith Avenue passed through a posted stop sign at Ames Avenue. The Blazer was struck along its driver’s side by a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Blazer then crashed with a Nissan Quest minivan that had been eastbound on Ames, police said.
The force of the crash caused the Blazer to overturn, police said, and its driver, Mark Lea, 33, of Council Bluffs, was ejected. Police said Lea and his passenger, Scott Harris, 34, of Omaha, were not wearing seat belts
The two occupants of the minivan, driver John Goynes, 73, of Omaha, and passenger Willie Goynes, 70, of Dumas, Arkansas, were also not wearing seat belts.
The Jeep’s occupants, driver Joshua Smithhisler, 42, of Omaha, and passengers Jamie Smithhisler, 66, and 13-month-old Pruitt Smithhisler, both also of Omaha, did not report any injuries. They were belted in, police said.
