Ventura, CA :Motorist Killed in Ventura Highway Crash on Wednesday, July 8th 2015

A man was killed on state Route 126 in Ventura Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle crashed into a flatbed truck.The driver has not been identified pending notification of next of kin. The California Highway Patrol says the driver was traveling in a white UD truck within the slow lane of eastbound Highway 126, west of Wells Road, just after 2 p.m. when for unknown reasons, veered to the right shoulder and crashed into a white International flatbed truck that was stopped within the shoulder.The white UD box truck overturned and came to rest on its roof within the Wells Road on ramp. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the International flatbed truck, Antonio Martinez, 49, of North Hollywood, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.The CHP shut down the slow lane of eastbound Highway 126 and the Wells Road on ramp until investigators assess the scene and debris on the road is cleaned up.The crash is under investigation.
