Moses Lake, WA : 2 Toppenish residents injured in Interstate 90 crash on Monday, March 27, 2017
Two Toppenish residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Moses Lake, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The crash happened about 12:15 a.m. Monday about 5 1/2 miles east of Moses Lake, according to a patrol news release.
Valentin Villa Ramirez, 29, was driving a Nissan Sentra westbound when it left the roadway to the right and struck the guardrail, troopers said.
Villa Ramirez fell asleep before the crash, troopers said.
Both he and his passenger -- Maricela Villa Negrete, 33, of Toppenish -- were taken to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake.
An update on their condition was not immediately available.
Troopers said Villa Ramirez was expected to receive a ticket for second-degree negligent driving.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts. Intoxicants were not suspected of contributing to the crash, the news release said.
