Columbus, OH : Man with disabled vehicle struck, killed on Tuesday, 2nd January 2018
A man whose vehicle malfunctioned was struck and killed when he left the vehicle Tuesday in Batavia Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol
James D. Callihan, 62, of Batavia, was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport eastbound on Old State Route 32 when it became disabled partially in the road near Brunk Road.
The preliminary investigation shows Callihan left the vehicle and was on the road when he and his vehicle were struck by 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling eastbound just after 7:20 p.m., according to the Batavia Post of the Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Cavalier, Ryan M. Palmer, 39, of Batavia, was not injured in the crash.
Callihan was taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol – Batavia Post.
