Orlando, FL : Annette Walton, 58, died in multi-vehicle crash on Apopka Vineland Road early Thursday morning on Sep 10, 2015

A fatal crash shut down a major Orange County Road early Thursday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said the crash at Apopka Vineland and Silver Star roads was the result of someone running a red light. But there are no cameras at the intersection to tell law enforcement who's responsible.

Annette Walton, 58, of Orlando, was pronounced dead at the scene. A friend of her said Walton was heading to work at the Apopka bus compound.

The patrol said there were two stolen vehicles involved in the crash -- a black Dodge Challenger and a white Lexus. The two people in the Challenger bailed, but the 17-year-old driver of the stolen Lexus was critically hurt.

“A red Mazda SUV that was traveling southbound on Apopka Vineland (Road), that driver has given a statement to investigators that he was traveling southbound, had a green light, entered the intersection and was struck by the white Lexus. After that collision the SUV impacted a blue Chrysler, killing the female driver,” Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Troopers said the stolen Lexus then struck a Nissan Maxima, and after the initial collision, a stolen Dodge Challenger that came through the intersection also hit the Nissan Maxima.

The driver of the Mazda, Ruben Suarez, 37, of Apopka, was hospitalized in serious condition, and the driver of the Maxima, Gregory Prowell, 30, of Orlando, suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that the driver and the passenger of the Dodge Challenger grabbed some items from the vehicle and then ran away. Those two people have not been located, but they could be charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident when they are located, troopers said.
