Houma, LA : 52-year-old man killed in a Head-On Crash in Terrebonne Parish on Friday, January 30, 2015

Shortly after 8:30 pm Friday evening, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a head-on fatality crash that claimed the life of a 52-year old Houma man on LA 57 in Terrebonne Parish.

The investigation revealed that a 2003 Mazda 6000 was traveling north on LA 57 around box number 2693 in Houma, LA. The Mazda was being driven by Murphy Babin III, of Houma, LA. As the Mazda was traveling north on LA 57, it failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The Mazda crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of LA 57 where it struck a 2014 Chrysler 200 head-on. The Chrysler was being driven by Lloyd Domangue age 68 of Chauvin, LA.

Babin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected during the impact and pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office. Domangue, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending for Babin. Blood was taken from Domangue and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation.
