Terre Haute, IN : Two dead after single-vehicle crash in Vermillion County on Sunday, November, 5th 2017
Two people were killed after a single-vehicle, rollover accident late this morning on Indiana 163 near Hazelbluff Road in Vermillion County.
Blondie King, 75, of Terre Haute, the driver, and passenger Wanda Spence, 79, also of Terre Haute, both died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department.
At about 11:50 a.m., King was driving a Chevrolet pickup west on Indiana 163 when the vehicle left the roadway on the south side of the road and traveled on the inside of the guardrail. The vehicle then struck the concrete embankment and landed on the driver’s side.
King and Spence, who were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, were transported to Union Hospital in Clinton, where both succumbed.
The accident happened east of Walmart.
Seatbelts were not used, according to the sheriff's department.
Assisting at the scene were Clinton city police as well as Black Diamond and Clinton city fire departments.
