Dixville, N.H : 11-year-old boy crashes 4-wheeler in Dixville on Saturday, October 11, 2014
An 11-year-old boy driving an Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle crashed and hurt himself Saturday in Dixville, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
Witnesses say the 11-year-old victim from Raymond, New Hampshire, was driving an OHRV downhill on the West Branch Road Trail. He encountered another OHRV coming from the opposite direction and tried to move to the outside corner of a left turn to make room.
Witnesses say the 11-year-old then lost control of the OHRV, hit a boulder and flipped the four-wheeler over an embankment into an 8-feet-deep drainage ditch.
Fish and Game officers say his riding party rolled the four-wheeler off the boy and called 911.
EMS transferred the boy to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, New Hampshire with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fish and Game officers are investigating the crash. Although they do not believe that speed was a factor, inexperience may have caused the accident.
