A Tucson woman is dead and another was injured after their cars collided.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the collision happened Friday around 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 77 and Orange Grove Boulevard.

DPS officials say 46-year-old Julie Begin was making a left turn from southbound SR 77 as another vehicle was approaching from the northbound lanes.

The second vehicle struck the passenger side of Begin's Honda.

Authorities say the Honda spun around from the impact and hit a utility pole.

Begin was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The other driver, 31-year-old Jennifer Ortiz of Tucson, was treated and released.

Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor.

Both women were wearing seat belts.

The incident remains under investigation.
