Bothell ,WA : 50-year-old motorcycle rider killed after he crashed while trying to avoid sleepy driver on ealy Monday morning ,June 8th 2015

A motorcycle rider died early Monday morning when he crashed trying to avoid a sleepy driver who veered across I-405, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers say the driver of a Nissan sedan was heading north near SR-527 when he fell asleep and drifted into the left shoulder. The driver then overcorrected and lost control, crossing all lanes to the right shoulder where he went through a guardrail and came to rest 25 feet down an embankment, troopers said.

Meanwhile, the 50-year-old motorcycle rider right behind the car slammed on his brakes, which locked his wheels and the motorcycle crashed down onto the pavement. The rider suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car wasn't hurt.
