Salem, OR : Portland man killed in I-205 crash on Monday, September 18th 2017

A Portland man died after his car crashed on Interstate 205 in Washington County on Monday, Oregon State Police said.

Douglas Cansdale, 53, was driving northbound just north of Interstate 5 when he lost control of his car, state police spokeswoman Sgt. Yvette Shephard said. His 2016 black Nissan Altima drifted off the highway and crashed into a metal guardrail, then continued across a grassy median and hit a light pole.

Cansdale died at the scene.

Police don't know why Cansdale lost control of the car, but believe wet roads and speed may have been factors.
