Vancouver, WA : Pedestrian died after being seriously injured when the man was hit by a car on Thursday night, March 31, 2016
Vancouver police say a pedestrian has died after being seriously injured Thursday night when he was hit by a car. Authorities have not identified the 29-year-old but they have said he was an off-duty Vancouver firefighter.
The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The Columbian newspaper reports police said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. The man died after being taken to the hospital.
Police officers were nearly injured themselves during a separate crash while they were investigating the crash. While they were assisting with traffic control during the investigation of the first crash, an un-involved vehicle nearly struck one of the officers.
That vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
