COAL CITY, IL : Coal City man dies in motorcycle-mini van collision on Sunday, November 13th 2016

Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan along with Grundy County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a motorcycle vs mini van crash that occurred Sunday afternoon shortly after 2 p.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of Jugtown and Deerpath Roads .

Preliminary investigation indicates a motorcycle driven by Daniel Ruffatto, 51, of Coal City, was northbound on Jugtown approaching the intersection of Deerpath when a van traveling southbound turned east to travel onto Deerpath when the collision occurred. The two collided in the intersection. Mr. Ruffatto was thrown from the motorcycle. Coroner Callahan pronounced Mr. Ruffatto dead at the scene just after 3:00 p.m. Mr. Ruffatto was not wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation by both agencies.
