Fort Wayne, IN : Avilla man involved in crash in the 8000 block of Hosler Road on Friday morning, May 13, 2016

The victim of a crash in the 8000 block of Hosler Road on Friday morning has been identified as Durand R. Courtney, 52, of Avilla, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Courtney was pinned inside his car after being hit head-on by another car, the coroner's office said in a statement following an autopsy. The driver of the other car was also pinned, the statement said.

Courtney was flown to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

His cause of death has been determined as blunt force trauma because of a motor vehicle crash, and his death has been ruled an accident, the statement said.

Courtney's death is the 12th traffic fatality in Allen County in 2016.

The crash is under investigation.
