YORK, PA : 6 York students taken to hospital after bus crash on Thursday, 28th March 2019
Six York students were transported to a hospital to be checked for possible injuries after a crash involving their school bus on Thursday morning, the school district said.
The bus was taking students from William Penn Senior High School to the Edgar Fahs Smith STEAM Academy was involved in the crash at Belvidere and Maryland avenues around 7:50 a.m.
A witness said another vehicle struck the front of the bus. The bus then went off the road, over a sidewalk, and onto a lawn where it struck a fence.
"The vehicle that hit it was doing at least 40 mph. He was really going fast," the witness, Moses Smith said. "When he hit it the front of the bus, it lost control because he hit it that hard."
A district spokesperson said as of 3 p.m., all students taken to the hospital had been treated and released. None of their injuries were serious.
The bus driver was also taken to the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment.
Other students on the bus were able to walk to the STEAM Academy and were evaluated by the school nurse.
