Sevierville, TN : One dead, four injured in Sevier County crash Tuesday afternoon on July 1, 2014

One person is dead and several others were hurt in an accident in Sevier County Tuesday afternoon.

Sevierville Police say a Ford Contour was leaving the Food City parking lot on Highway 66 when it crashed into a Chevy Equinox while crossing the northbound lanes of the road. The Contour then swerved back into southbound traffic and hit another car before running down an embankment.

The driver of the Contour died at the scene and a passenger in her car was flown via LifeStar to UT Medical Center for his injuries.

SPD hasn't released either of their identities.

Three people inside the Equinox were taken to the LeConte Medical Center for minor injuries.
