Milwaukee, WI : Two man killed in hit-and-run crash on Wednesday December 30 2016.
A Milwaukee woman faces two homicide charges after a fatal hit-and-run crash Wednesday
Officials said Jasmine Ray, 23, was driving a stolen Kia Sorento around 80 mph when she crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection of North Sherman Boulevard and West Roosevelt Drive.
Terry Jackson and Darrell Thompson were in the Malibu and died at the scene.
"I just want to hold my dad's hand again. I just want to hear him call my name or see him play with my children,” Darrell Thompson’s daughter, Darneisha Thompson, said.
Witnesses said two women ran from the Kia after the crash. One witness followed and caught Ray, who was lying by a nearby garage.
Ray originally said she was fleeing from police, but later said that was untrue. She told investigators that she lied because she was too young to go to jail for murder.
Ray told police she has never had a driver's license.
Ray’s mother reached out to WISN 12 News to send her condolences to the two grieving families.
She also said her daughter is devastated about what she did.
“They have my deepest sympathy. I am sorry. Every day I wake up praying that the Lord will guide them through this,” Mary Ray said.
Jasmine Ray could face up to 75 years in prison if convicted on all three charges against her.
Darrell Thompson worked at the Milwaukee County Detention Center for years and was just two months shy of his 60th birthday.
I imagine my dad to have his last breaths with us around him -- not die out on the street cold. I don't know what my father's final moments were,” Darneisha Thompson said.
