HONOLULU ,NH : Early morning collision slows traffic at Ward and Beretania on July, Tuesday 4th 2017

Holiday plans were interrupted after an early morning accident on today at the intersection of Ward and Beretania.

A cooler and beverages lay thrown across the street and sidewalk after being ejected from the bed of a truck, a sharp reminder to drive carefully.

According to witnesses, a pickup truck was thrown into the air when it collided with an SUV as it crossed the intersection.

Witnesses tell KITV the truck landed on its side after the initial impact but was struck again by the SUV in motion, setting it upright.

The driver of the SUV sat stunned in the driver's seat for several minutes, while crews cleaned up the scene around him.

He eventually got out to remove a pair of empty child's safety seats from the backseat of his totaled SUV.

EMS assisted one man before being transported. Police blocked several lanes of Beretania and Ward while crews cleaned up the scene.

Traffic was restored, and all lanes reopened about an hour later.
