Kingman County, KS : Weather plays role in Kingman County crash on U.S. 54 on Sunday, 25th November 2018
Two Cunningham men were injured Sunday when their vehicle was rear-ended after it slowed due to a slick spot on a highway in Kingman County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by David C. Steffen, 65, of Cunningham, was westbound on U.S. 54 just after 4 p.m. when it slowed about five miles west of Kingman due to a slick spot in the highway.
A 2011 Mazda driven by Rene Antonio Mora-Lucero, 63, of Leoti, failed to slow and rear ended the Prius.
Mora-Lucero and three passengers in his vehicle, including Yariana Padilla, 30, Leoti, and two male juveniles, were not hurt. All were wearing seatbelts.
Steffen and a passenger in his vehicle, Mark A. Steffen, 67, of Cunningham, were both transported to Kingman Community Hospital with injuries. Both men were also wearing seatbelts.
