Student killed in traffic accident in Georgia

A University of West Georgia student was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident in Douglas County.Armantha Tertulien, 19, of Jonesboro was pronounced dead by Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel at 9:30 a.m. Officials say the three-vehicle crash happened on Highway 166 just west of West Chapel Road about 8:45 a.m. Thursday.Tertulien was on her way to class.The Georgia State Patrol said that Tertulien was traveling westbound on Highway 166 when she lost control of her Chevrolet Malibu in a curve. The state patrol said her car rotated, crossed the center line and was hit in the front passenger side by a Chevrolet C1500 truck.The truck left the road and was hit by a third vehicle that had also left the road to avoid the crash.The other two drivers were not seriously injured in the crash, according to the state patrol.Witnesses said that it was raining heavily at the time of the crash and that Tertulien’s car might have hydroplaned. Witnesses said the crash was virtually head-on.The accident is still under investigation.
