Holtsville, NY : Man fatally injured after pickup truck strikes median on Long Island Expressway on Wednesday, Aug 26, 2015

Suffolk County police say a man was fatally injured after his pickup truck collided with a median on the Long Island Expressway.

David Hutchings of Coram was driving eastbound on the expressway when his pickup hit the center median near the high occupancy vehicle lane. It happened around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Holtsville.

Hutchings was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities believe the crash happened because Hutchings suffered a medical emergency.

An investigation is continuing.
