Belmont , NC : 72 - Years old Woman was killed in single-car accident after She lost control on Sunday Morning , January 11th 2015

A Charlotte woman was killed in a single-car accident in Belmont on Sunday morning, according to police.

Margaret Lee Lumsden , 72, was driving on Interstate 85 south through Belmont when she lost control of her car and crashed just after 9:30 a.m.

Police say Lumsden's car flew into the air and struck a tree near mile marker 25. Lumsden was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say speed and medical issues appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

The NC Highway Patrol is investigating.
