Penn Township, PA : Tanker crash closes lane of Turnpike in Penn Township on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015
The driver of a tanker truck that crashed on the turnpike in Penn Township Tuesday morning will be cited for driving too fast for conditions, state police in New Stanton said. Police said the driver, Alix Naissant, 45, of Belleville, N.J., was westbound between the Irwin and Monroeville interchanges when he attempted to pull off into an emergency area near milepost 61.9. Naissant slid on the snow-covered road and rolled the truck onto its side, police said. He was not injured, but one lane of westbound traffic was stopped for a short time while crews righted the tanker and transferred its contents — “a noncombustible water-based polymer” — to another truck.
