Tulsa, OK : Grove man in critical condition after Delaware County motorcycle wreck on Sunday, 14th August, 2016
Troopers stated both drivers involved in a Delaware County collision that left a motorcyclist in critical condition Sunday evening smelled of alcoholic beverages.
About 8:30 p.m. Shawn Leory Kitch, 31, of Grove, was driving a 2000 Harley Davidson along a stretch of County Road 250 near Grove when he attempted to negotiate a curve, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Kitch's motorcycle laid over, resulting in him falling off the vehicle and sliding about 45 feet. He came to a rest beneath a 2003 Dodge Ram that was driving the opposite direction on the curve, the report states.
The motorcycle ended up behind the pickup.
Kitch was flown from the scene to a Springfield, Missouri, hospital. He was listed in critical condition with head, arm, leg and both internal and external trunk injuries, according to the report.
The pickup's driver 22-year-old Aaron James England was uninjured. A 7-year-old boy riding in his vehicle was also unharmed, the report states.
The report alleges both drivers had an odor of alcoholic beverages. Troopers determined the collision was caused by unsafe speeds.
