Waterbury, CT : Two people killed in head-on crash in Waterbury on Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2016

A double fatal accident Wednesday afternoon has closed Thomaston Avenue just north of the state Department of Motor Vehicles. A preliminary police investigation has found two people were killed -- a man and a woman-- after their cars collided head on.

Police have not released the identities of the people involved, and the investigation into the crash is in its early stages

Drivers should avoid the area north of the DMV in the 2200 block of the road.

Drivers seeking access to Thomaston and other towns north of Waterbury should find alternate routes.
