GRAVES COUNTY, KY : Kentucky woman sent to out-of-state hospital after crash on Friday, 3rd May 2024

Officials took one woman to a hospital outside of Kentucky after she drove off the road.

Deputies with the Graves County Sheriff's Office arrived at the intersection of State Route 1241 and Old Plant Road around 7:55 Friday morning. On the scene, officials found Carly Matheny, 30, of Hickory, in a wrecked 2014 Honda CR-V.

According to a press release from the office, Matheny said she distracted herself before the accident trying to get something out of her center console. While doing so, she says she did not look at the road and hit a curb on the bridge north of Old Plant Road. This caused the Honda to slide across the Southbound lane into a ditch.

Officials say Matheny still sat in her car upon their arrival. According to Matheny, though, she was almost out of the car when the deputies got there.

Deputies took Matheny to a hospital in Graves County for a health evaluation. Medical personnel determined Matheny needed more attention and sent her to an out-of-state hospital.
