BRUNSWICK, GA : Truck crashes burns on I-95 near Woodbine on Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Southbound traffic was backed up on Interstate 95 at Woodbine after a tractor-trailer went into the median Tuesday morning and caught fire, officials said.

The North Carolina-based truck went into trees about 11 miles north of the state line and the tractor burned, said Maj. Larry Bruce of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

The highway was closed as firefighters put out the fire, and at 10:30 a.m., only one southbound lane of the six-lane highway was open as crews worked to remove the wreck, Bruce said.

The northbound lanes were open, but Bruce estimated that traffic was backed up three miles on the other side.
