A bicyclist was seriously injured in a car crash in Richmond’s Fan District on Saturday night.

The cyclist was headed southbound on Rowland Street about 10:16 p.m. when the bike collided with a car headed west on Main Street, according to Richmond police.The cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. No update was available Sunday.

Police Lt. Lisa Watson said the vehicle had the right of way and that it was unclear whether the cyclist had stopped at the stop sign.

Watson said police are also investigating if speed was a factor in the crash.

No charges have been filed.
