Bushkill Township, PA : Wind Gap man, 41, suspected of DUI after Route 33 crash in Northampton County on Tuesday morning, Sep 29, 2015

A 41-year-old Wind Gap man, driving a 2007 Nissan Altima, sideswiped a 2000 Dodge Caravan on Tuesday morning on Route 33 North in Bushkill Township and tried to flee, Pennsylvania State Police report.

The man, who police did not identify, was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill for medical evaluation and a blood draw, police said. The man is suspected of DUI drug-related, police said.

After the silver Altima struck the green Caravan -- which was driven by a 67-year-old Wind Gap man who was not hurt in the crash -- it traveled through the center median and back across the highway, police said. It then traveled along the right shoulder before going through shrubbery and trees before stopping, police said.

The car had to be towed, police said.

Pending a toxicology report, charges are pending, police said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.

Bushkill Township and Nazareth EMS as well as township fire police assisted at the scene, state police said.
