De Ridder, LA : Longville man dies in crash on Interstate 10 on Friday, January 6th 2017
One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash Friday on Interstate 10 between Westlake and Sulphur.
At 9:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-10 westbound just east of Sulphur. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1995 Honda Civic was traveling west on Interstate 210 merging onto Interstate 10 westbound. For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the road to the right and struck a large traffic sign.
The driver, 24-year-old Dylan Morrell of Longville, was taken to a Lake Charles hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries. Morrell and the passenger were both wearing seatbelts. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
