Tallahassee, FL : Valrico motorcyclist killed after car turns into his path on U.S. 41 in Tampa on Sunday, 18th September 2016
A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after a car turned into his path on U.S. 41 in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Daniel Scott Florez, 28, of Brandon, was driving a 2016 Honda Civic southbound on U.S. 41 in the inside turn lane just south of Nehaul Place, troopers said, when he turned left into the path of a northbound 2011 Harley Davidson driven by Daniel Kevin Popke, 56, of Valrico.
The impact caused Popke to be ejected from the motorcycle, troopers said.
Popke was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, troopers said.
The debris from the motorcycle flew into a nearby parking lot and smashed into a parked 2007 Cadillac SUV and a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, the FHP said. Both vehicles were unoccupied.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP said.
