LINCOLN, NE : Chain reaction crash on Highway 6 leaves one in critical condition on Tuesday, 27th February 2024
“It was one of the most horrific crashes I’ve seen in some time,” remarked Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin during a press conference on Tuesday.
According to Houchin, the crashed happened near Waverly on Monday afternoon when a semi failed to stop, colliding with a car in the eastbound lane of Highway 6 and triggering a chain reaction. A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.
Emergency crews from Lincoln, Waverly, and Raymond, along with the Nebraska State Patrol and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the crash just after 4:20 p.m.
Houchin said the force of the semi sent the lead car, a blue 2002 Hyundai, at the stop sign into the eastbound lane. A white Toyota Corolla and the semi then went into the westbound lanes.
