Lawrenceville, GA : Poultry truck wreck causes I-85 delay in Buford on Tuesday, February 14th 2017
A truck carrying empty poultry crates crashed on Interstate 85 northbound in Buford early Tuesday morning.
The wreck closed on late of the interstate at the time.
Emergency crews found the flatbed tractor trailer off the roadway and into the woodline just north of Hamilton Mill Road, said Firefighter Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
“The truck was partially on its side and both saddle fuel tanks were torn from the side of the vehicle,” Rutledge said.
Firefighters had to help the driver out of the cab of the truck, but he was conscious. He was taken to Gwinnett County Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A wrecker removed the truck from the woodline later in the morning and the scene was turned over to Gwinnett County Police and Georgia DOT.
